How Close Were Inter to Signing Napoli Stopper Kim Min-Jae?

A worthwhile revelation by Tuttomercatoweb has revealed how Inter were close to signing Kim Min-Jae when he was still at Fenerbahce. The South Korean has emerged as one of Napoli’s best summer signings, especially after the departure of defensive pinhead Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea.

Nonetheless, it was the Nerazzurri who attempted to lure the Napoli defender first, but not before they had already eyed Gleison Bremer from Torino last season. It is reported that Inter were ready to hand Turkish giants Fenerbahce €18M on the dot for his services, but they committed on waiting for a response from Bremer first.

However, their transfer dealings went haywire, as Min-Jae headed south to Napoli, who acted faster, and Bremer jumped ship to Derby della Mole rivals Juventus.

Inter have suffered a great deal in terms of their defense this campaign, conceding 22 goals midway through the season – the worst of any top ten side.

Starkly, Min-Jae has played a pivotal part in leading Luciano Spalletti’s men atop the Serie A table, as they remain undefeated after 15 matchweeks, conceding just 12 goals so far – the league’s third best defence after Juventus (7) and Lazio (11).
