Inter Poised for Pivotal Summit with Star Midfielder

Inter have been negotiating an extension with Marcelo Brozovic for some time, but they have not been able to come to terms with the midfielder yet. The management would like to wrap up the talks sooner rather than later. They have scheduled another meeting right before the Supecoppa, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Nerazzurri will table their final proposal, hoping their centerpiece will accept it. They will touch up the bonuses compared to their previous one. Brozovic had asked for €7M wages in the most recent discussions. Inter will propose €6.5M, including add-ons, to the midfielder the next time around.

The atmosphere between the parties remains serene. Both coach Simone Inzaghi and CEO Giuseppe Marotta underlined the importance of Brozovic in comments to the press. President Steven Zhang should be present at the next summit as well, as he is traveling to Italy for the clash with Juventus.

The father of the Inter midfielder, who is handling the matter, had opened by demanding €8M per year. The gap has already closed up significantly since the front office initially proposed €5M. Brozovic has been linked to Newcastle and Tottenham, but he has clearly given priority to his club. There seems to be momentum toward a positive resolution.

On the other hand, Ivan Perisic is distant from getting a new deal. His agent requested to increase his salary, while the club wants to go in the opposite direction. His future will be sorted at a later date, and Inter are bracing for his departure.
