Inter Set Sights on Sampdoria Midfielder in Potential Swap

Inter are operating quietly in the January window so far, but they are ready to bring in a left-back and a central midfielder under the right circumstances. For the second role, they are engaged in a negotiation with Sampdoria.

The Blucerchiati have laid their eyes on Stefano Sensi, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The player is reluctant to transfer at this stage, but they are trying to convince him. Inter are more than willing to move on from the out-of-favor midfielder. They inquired about the availability of Morten Thorsby in a possible swap deal.

The Norwegian international was on the brink of joining Atalanta last summer. He has only 18 months left on his contract. Sampdoria will have to self-finance until they find a new owner and could sell some of their linchpins. The Nerazzurri are offering a loan with option to buy.

The 25-year-old has been the only Serie A midfielder that managed to outrun Inter star Marcelo Brozovic so far this season. He has joined the Blucerchiati on a free transfer from Heerenveen in 2019 and accumulated 82 appearances since then, scoring 7 times.

Sampdoria just fired coach Roberto D’Aversa, and the new gaffer will shape their next transfer market moves. According to Calciomercato.com, they would have better chances of signing Sensi if they brought back Marco Giampaolo, which is in the works. They are in talks with their target’s agent Giuseppe Riso. Like Matias Vecino, the oft-injured midfielder does not appear in a rush to leave Inter.
