Inter Sketch Out Succession Plan on the Left Flank

Robin Gosens is once again linked with a potential exit from Inter and is drawing interest from abroad. The wingback has been healthier in the recently concluded campaign. While he has played a lot thanks to their success in the cups, Federico Dimarco continues to be the unquestioned starter.

Per Alfredo Pedullà, Union Berlin, Wolfsburg, and Bournemouth recently inquired about the veteran. The Nerazzurri want around €20M to part ways with him. He previously voiced his preference for a turn in his home country. He was on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

If Gosens successfully found a new home, Inter would target Carlos Augusto. They have been tracking him for a few weeks, but their activities have only been exploratory thus far. He had a remarkable debut campaign in Serie A, recording six goals and five assists.

The former Atalanta star transferred to Milan in a €25M move considering the initial fee and bonuses. He missed most of his first half-a-season due to a lingering thigh injury. He bounced back in relative fashion in 2022/2023 but struggled to return to the elite levels he exhibited with La Dea.

Our Take on Inter, Gosens, and Carlos Augusto

The Nerazzurri might indeed look to offload the German, who’s a bit expensive for a backup, but the numbers and the formula would have to be proper. On the other hand, considering they already have a great contributor in Federico Dimarco, they are unlikely to spend most, if not even more, of what they would gain in this scenario for a substitute.
