Inter to Target Fiorentina and Atalanta Stars if Chelsea Sign Lukaku

Inter have rejected Chelsea’s latest bid for Romelu Lukaku. But it is far from certain that they will be able to resist until the end of the window. The Blues are plotting to raise their offer, which could make the club and the player reconsider.

The Blues’ most recent proposal included Marcos Alonso, while the Nerazzurri want cash only. According to Sky, it would be tough for them to turn down €120/130M on the nail. Lukaku stated that he wants to stay at Inter, but he has not rejected Chelsea’s courtship directly. He would get a significant pay raise, but such aspect is not necessarily his main priority.

The star striker and his entourage are trying to figure out how much the current financial difficulties will impact the future perspectives of Inter. Moreover, he has been impressed by Chelsea’s determination, the outlet adds. The recent Champions League victory surely helps as well.

If the Belgian ace left, the Beneamata would have to find a suitable replacement. The top names on their radar are Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata, La Repubblica indicates. The Viola starlet has yet to come to terms on his extension. He is also on Tottenham’s list should Harry Kane move to Manchester City or another English club.

Both targets would be rather expensive, but Inter would be properly armed with money at that point. The sense is that the situation is fully in Lukaku’s hands now and that the blockbuster transfer could indeed happen, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
