With Inter heavily invested in bettering their defensive line, the reports surrounding loanee defender Francesco Acerbi’s potential stay has increased. Acerbi endured a fractured relationship with Lazio fans before he left the Italian capital, and it seems unlikely the stopper will return to play in the Biancocelesti colors.
According to FCInterNews, Lazio would be open to selling the 35-year-old veteran for a sum of €3M despite being offered a million less than the purchase option in his loan deal. However, there is a catch, as the Nerazzurri want to negotiate even further before finalizing the deal.

They want to execute a deal similar to the ones for Arturo Vidal and Edin Dzeko – both of who arrived on free transfers. This involved a payment of a small add-on fee to Barcelona and Roma respectively for the securing Champions League football in their respective first seasons at the club.
In addition to the tension between the two parties, Lazio already have Alessio Romagnoli in their ranks and do not have a valid purpose to bring Acerbi back. Whereas, Inter are desperate for reinforcements ahead of next season.

Acerbi has been delegated a large chunk of responsibility by Simone Inzaghi, especially during big games this season. It certainly looks likely that the Nerazzurri management will end up keeping the veteran in their ranks.
