Juventus are reportedly growing confident about completing the signing of outgoing Manchester United ace Paul Pogba on a free transfer. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A heavyweights are negotiating a four-year deal with their former star.
Despite Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain forming part of Pogba’s chasing pack, Juventus seem to be the frontrunners in the race to land the World Cup winner. The Bianconeri have apparently offered the Frenchman €8m net per season plus add-ons.
Though Madrid and PSG have the financial capacity to outbid Juventus, the Italians remain confident of pulling off a deal. Massimiliano Allegri sees Pogba as a perfect solution for Juve’s creativity problems as the duo shared some iconic moments in the past.
During Pogba’s first stint in Turin, Allegri helped him become one of the most highly-rated playmakers in Europe. In return, the 29-year-old played a starring role as Juventus won four consecutive Serie A titles thanks to his formidable midfield partnership with Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo.
Pogba has never emulated his Serie A form at Old Trafford. Since returning to the Premier League in 2016, he has often made headlines for the wrong reasons. After refusing to commit his future to the red jersey, he will be free to pick out his next destination in the summer.
Our take on Pogba’s links with Juventus
Pogba may have failed to live up to expectations at Man United, yet he remains one of the world’s best midfielders. Not many playmakers can match the Frenchman’s vision and slick passing when he is at his peak powers.
Based on his experience at Juventus, Serie A could be the best possible environment to thrive and find his feet ahead of the World Cup. The Bianconeri are in desperate need of midfield quality and Pogba seems like the ideal solution.
