Juventus to Miss Out on Top-Notch Ukrainian Talent

Juventus will sign Carlos Alcaraz on deadline day, while their hopes of landing Georgiy Sudakov will be dealt a critical hit. He’s on the verge of renewing his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

His new deal will last until June 2028 and include a €100M release clause. His side never intended to negotiate his sale for less than €40M, which the Old Lady couldn’t get to in January. As a matter of fact, they didn’t even try.

The new turn of events will render Sudakov an improbable summer target too, even though Juventus will be more armed with cash thanks to their probable Champions League qualification. If the prodigy were to leave, Shakhtar Donets would look to replicate the figures they obtained for Mykhaylo Mudryk. He transferred to Chelsea for €70M after a bidding war with Arsenal.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals, including one in the Champions League against Barcelona, and provided one assist this season. He has 12 caps with Ukraine. Per Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli were the only ones to tender a lucrative bid in January.

Our Take on Juventus and Sudakov

While they surely did their due diligence on him, as all big teams do on a plethora of players, the fact that there wasn’t even a feeble attempt in January, where they could have used somebody like him and will add a fairly similar player, suggests they were never concretely in the running. It’s also true that they already have some mouthwatering budding offensive talents.
