Lazio Ace Immobile Heaps Praise on Inter Manager Inzaghi

Lazio icon Ciro Immobile is full of praise for Inter tactician Simone Inzaghi, with whom he spent the formative years of his Biancocelesti career. The 32-year-old striker arrived at Lazio at the end of July in 2016, just a few months after Inzaghi was made the permanent manager following the departure of one-week stumper Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking to SportItalia (via FCInterNews), Immobile paid his respects to the Nerazzurri manager, not just as a colleague but also as a friend.

“Inzaghi is very different from Maurizio Sarri. We have an important relationship that goes beyond that between footballer and coach. He was an important person and we still feel today.”

He also took stock of the Serie A season that resumes just as the new year begins after the World Cup.

“Right now, Napoli have a great advantage in terms of points, with the fact of the World Cup I can’t tell you why it’s new to us but if we manage to keep that pace, we will do great things. It is an atypical championship; we are fighting with great teams that give us a hard time.”

Immobile has struggled with injuries this season, but good news has emerged from the Biancocelesti camp in the past few days. The EURO 2020 winner will be ready to face Lecce on January 4 when the season resumes.
