Lazio Coach Sarri: “Playing Atalanta is Like Going to the Dentist”

Lazio welcome Atalanta in a mouthwatering top-of-the-table encounter at Stadio Olimpico tomorrow, and Maurizio Sarri is aware of the challenge that awaits them. Both teams are in a fight to secure a Champions League spot, with just one point separating the duo.

Sarri previewed the high-profile encounter in his pre-match press conference

“If Atalanta declines physically, they are a normal team. If they are physically well they are very strong. Tomorrow will be a terrible game, as Guardiola says playing against them is like going to the dentist.” (via LazioNews24)

He then drew comparison between the teams in the transfer market.

The gap is due to the fact that for three years they made the Champions League and collected 100 million more than usual, which is why they were able to buy players worth 25 million. The two teams were equal this season, a difference in the standings is now irrelevant. Tomorrow will be a great opportunity even if nothing can be definitive.”

Lazio’s last win at the Olimpico against Atalanta was back in 2017. Since then they’ve played out two defeats and three draws at home. Gasperini’s men on the other hand, will look to avoid going two games in a row without scoring for the first time this league season.
