Lazio fullback Luca Pellegrini has reportedly become a concrete transfer target for Super Lig champions Galatasaray. According to TMW, the 25-year-old could be Galatasaray’s final coup in the current transfer window.
Though the market is closed in all top European leagues, Turkish clubs have until September 13 to complete incoming deals. Galatasaray took advantage of such circumstances to sign Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli last week.
After registering an interest in Roma starlet Nicola Zalewski, Okan Buruk’s men have added Pellegrini to their wishlist. The ex-Juventus flop has yet to feature for Lazio this season. He was an unused substitute against Venezia on matchday one.
He was involved in a car crash shortly after that match, injuring his leg. As such, he has been out of action as Lazio picked up only one point against Udinese and Milan before the international break. With Serie A returning this weekend, Pellegrini hoped to make himself available again.
But destiny might have other plans for him. He is currently on loan from Juventus. Yet, Lazio must sign him permanently at the end of the season. It means it’s up to them to decide what to do with Pellegrini.
Nuno Tavares has joined Lazio on loan from Arsenal. He has immediately established himself as a regular starter, surpassing Pellegrini in the pecking order. However, Marco Baroni lacks alternatives on the left flank, with Elseid Hysaj the only remaining senior option.
Therefore, Lazio may not be enthusiastic about losing Pellegrini, especially now that they cannot sign a replacement.
