Lazio Prodigy Casale Heaps Praise on Maurizio Sarri

Highly-rated Italy U21 prodigy and new Lazio signing Nicolo Casale believes Maurizio Sarri has played a key role in improving his style of play and grow his stature. Casale joined the Biancocelesti ranks before the start of the season from boyhood club Hellas Verona after much fanfare surrounding his future.

As relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi (via Tuttomercatoweb), the center-back spoke during Lazio’s Christmas dinner party and had words of praise for Sarri.

“The relationship with Sarri? I have to say very little about this. Coming here to Lazio was one of the first choices for Mr. Sarri. He looked for me, he wanted me and I knew he could make me grow as a defender. I have a relationship with him like any other player, a few words and a lot of work.”

Casale also spoke of Lazio’s fourth position in the league table going into the second half of the season.

“There is still much missing. This is a starting point, we made ourselves ready before and we did well, but there are many games left and it is long.”

Lazio are tied on 30 points with Inter, but ahead on goal difference. The Biancocelesti trail Juventus by one point and Milan by three.
