Lazio to Offer Contract Extension for Youth Product Cataldi

Lazio defensive midfielder Danilo Cataldi is on the verge of signing a contract extension at the club. The Biancocelesti want to keep hold of the 28-year-old, who permanently moved back to the Italian capital from Benevento in 2018.

Keeping in mind his client’s contract expiring in the summer of 2024, Cataldi’s agent arranged talks with president Claudio Lotito earlier in the week. The outcome reported by Corriere della Sera (via Tuttomercatoweb) is positive, with the Biancocelesti wanting to extend his stay for three further years i.e. until 2027.

His salary is expected to be increased to €1.8M net per season excluding bonuses, but only taking effect from the 2023/24 season. The two parties are expected to sign the contract renewal deal in the coming days.

The Lazio youth product has spent his entire career in the sky blue colors, moving away to Crotone, Genoa and Benevento on seasonal loan deals, only to end back where he started his career.

Cataldi has 189 appearances for Lazio.
