Liverpool Scouts Monitor Sampdoria Sensation in Milan Defeat

Mikkel Damsgaard shone on the grand stage with his fantastic performances for Denmark until their run to the semi-finals of the EURO 2020 tournament. His performances have garnered him attention from some of the world’s top clubs and Liverpool are keen to tap in on his services.

According to reports from Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX (via The Express), scouts from Liverpool were present at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa as Sampdoria succumbed to a 1-0 opening day defeat against visitors Milan. Scouts from the Reds were reportedly spotted watching Damsgaard, who put in a sub-par performance against the Rossoneri over the course of 90 minutes.

Tottenham were also actively interested in the Danish sensation earlier in the transfer window, however Fabio Paratici and his management could not finalize a deal with Sampdoria.

Sampdoria coach Roberto D’Aversa admitted earlier that the Genovese club would find it extremely hard to hold onto their attacking prodigy amid heightened interest among European powerhouses.

He has a contract deal valid with Sampdoria until June 2024.
