Lukaku Agent Rebuts Criticism by Inter Fans for Chelsea Move

Federico Pastorello, the agent of Romelu Lukaku, addressed his client’s return to Chelsea: “We received major backlash for it, both myself and the player, from Inter supporters. Unfortunately, these things are never pleasing.”

The agent rejected the notion that Lukaku quickly left town when he had the chance: “The truth is that the decision to leave Inter was much more pained than people think. We really discussed it at length. The deal moved forward only because Chelsea meant a lot to Romelu. It was very challenging emotionally speaking. But the Blues pursued him with great strength and that was very important.”

Pastorello stated that the outcome was positive for both sides speaking to Sky Sport: “Football moves on, and Inter now are top of the league also thanks to their newcomers. We are all happy in that regard. I am proud of the operation, considering its difficulty and the amount of money. The same was true when I brought Lukaku from Manchester United to Inter. It was another very complex transfer.”

The representative added that the striker could be back to Serie A at some point: “I think he will return because he is in love with Italy. He was close to Juventus in the past. The Red Devils would have gotten Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in exchange. He had already talked to Maurizio Sarri and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the move collapsed because the English club did not come to terms with the Argentinian attacker.”
