Although Marco Asensio announced his presence within the Real Madrid squad few matchweeks ago with a long-range stunner against Inter in the Champions League group stages, his future still seems to be up in the air in the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos’ coach Carlo Ancelotti excluded Asensio from the majority of the first half of the season – mainly due to his injuries and lack of consistency – but now it looks like the former Mallorca youth product is resurfacing into a vital member of the frontline.
He has slowly regained the trust of the Bernabeu, having secured 19 appearances this season and scoring six in the process. However, that has not stopped the rumor mill from spinning – especially with the potential onboarding of Kylian Mbappe.
According to reports from Spanish outlet El Nacional, Milan are one of the first clubs to express interest in the agile 25-year-old talent. Although Don Carlo wants the winger to stay, transfer proposals in the range of €35-40m might prompt the Spanish giants to hear for offers.
The Rossoneri have already acquired Brahim Diaz and Theo Hernandez from Madrid in the past few seasons and it will not be surprising to see them capture another white soldier.
In a recent interview with MARCA, Asensio said: “It’s too early to talk about leaving Real Madrid.”
Juventus have also been linked with the Spanish forward.
With the World Cup in Qatar less than a year away, Asensio’s main target will be to make it to the Spanish national side under Luis Enrique, who has so far been biased against Real Madrid players.
