Milan have PAOK midfielder Giannis Konstantelias in their crosshairs for the summer. They have moved early to try to beat the competition for the prodigy, who’s in high demand. Paolo Maldini has gotten in touch with the Greek team’s counterparty José Boto, Tuttomercatoweb informs.
The 19-year-old is being pursued also by RB Salzburg and Sevilla. The Rossoneri signaled that they are ready to bid €10M, a sum similar to the proposals of the other suitors. Instead, the Thessaloniki-based franchise is putting up some resistance and wants €15/20M.
Milan will keep tabs on Konstantelias throughout the remainder season to monitor his growth and eventually raise their offer. He has scored once and provided 6 assists in 22 matches across all competitions so far.
The no.10 is a home-grown product and spent six months on loan to KAS Eupen in the previous campaign, logging eight appearances. He debuted with Greece U-21 in September. He primarily plays as a trequartista but has some experience on the left wing as well.
Our Take on Milan and Konstantelias
Despite some reports about an attempt to keep Brahim Diaz, the Rossoneri seem to be already working to replace him. They ultimately have no control over the Spaniard, unless Real Madrid choose to sell him. Since they invested lavishly in Charles De Ketelaere, they probably won’t spend much for another option in the same role. It’ll be interesting to see whether they’ll eventually start breaking in Yacine Adli, who probably can star only in that position in Serie A, and see what they truly have in him. He could potentially spare them the trouble.
