Morata Talks Missed Italy Return and Lauds Lazio Star

Alvaro Morata was linked to most Serie A’s top teams in the summer but didn’t leave Atletico Madrid. He discussed what happened and more before facing Lazio in the Champions League (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“There were a few options, but I had a face-to-face conversation with the coach, and he conveyed his trust and the desire to keep me. It was the best decision I could make. Football makes you travel a lot. I have wonderful memories of Italy. My family is here. It’s always nice to come back.”

Morata heaped high praise on Luis Alberto.

“I’ve known him since we were teenagers. I think he’s one of the most underrated Spanish players of the last 25 years. He’s technical and has character. He’s very strong.”

Morata dished on the opponents.

“I’ve seen pieces of the Juventus game to study them. The Champions League is different. It doesn’t matter what you have done in the previous match. Everything stops. We approach this fixture with a lot of eagerness.”

“We’re sorry the injury suffered by Thomas Lemar the other day. As for the lineup, there are a few possibilities, but I can’t name them or Maurizio Sarri will hear me. We have a tight and solid squad. We look forward to the game to prove that we are still hungry for victories. I’d give everything to win a trophy with Atleti.”
