Napoli Ace Lobotka Illustrates Why Real Madrid Want Him

Napoli midfield ace Stanislav Lobotka put in a heroic performance against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg tie at Deutsche Bank Park. Thanks to his agile display, the Partenopei proved to be stable in midfield, cruising to a fourth straight clean-sheet win across all competitions.

In his post-match press conference, Luciano Spalletti praised the Slovak for his scintillating performance against Frankfurt.

“It was wonderful tonight, because we’re starting from the exact opposite of his qualities. In managing the ball, in his quickness, in thinking doubles, he is a master. He is very quick to turn around and twist himself. The great quality and merit is that he has never been jumped, he never jumps. When they put it in terms of speed, he also becomes quick, in an open field, he wins back balls. You were right to mention him as someone who gives strength.”

Lobotka has experienced a total rebirth this season, playing an indispensable part in Spalletti’s team plans. Unsurprisingly, his displays have garnered the attention of top clubs, including reigning European champions Real Madrid.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti is understood to be an admirer of the holding midfielder’s abilities, with the Italian veteran having already inquired about the player’s availability. However, Napoli were quick to act earlier this season, tying Lobotka to an extension that now validates his contract until 2027.

Nevertheless, Lobotka is still free to choose where his future lies – especially since offers like the one from Los Blancos arrive far and few. Despite his Transfermarkt value of €30M, it is known that Napoli will not entertain any bids less than €50-60M, given his stature at the club at the moment.
