With Napoli and Hirving Lozano growing further apart, Aurelio De Laurentiis is desperate to offload his unsettled winger in the final days of the transfer window. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, PSV Eindhoven could lend the Partenopei chief a helping hand after identifying their former star as a genuine target.
Peter Bosz’s men have tabled their initial bid for Lozano worth €10 million plus €5m in add-ons after failing to land Charles De Ketelaere. Xavi Simons’ exit has left a massive hole in the PSV squad, with the Eredivisie heavyweights earmarking the Napoli outcast as a potential solution to their attacking problems.
Four years ago, PSV sold Lozano to Napoli for €42m after helping the Mexican establish himself as one of the brightest prospects. They could soon forge a new partnership with their former associate for a third of what they earned from his departure in 2019. But Napoli will have the final say after taking some time to assess the Dutch side’s offer.
Per Di Marzio, the parties will meet again on Monday to intensify talks and see if there’s room for a quick resolution. Even if Napoli were to give a seal of approval, PSV would still need to convince Lozano to take a substantial pay cut to accommodate his return to Philips Stadion.
Lozano has received multiple proposals from the United States and Saudi Arabia this summer. But none has been tempting enough to lure him away from Napoli.
