Napoli Join Race to Sign Paulo Dybala

Napoli bigwig Aurelio De Laurentiis has enquired about the availability of former Juventus star Paulo Dybala. According to Calciomercato, the Partenopei president has made in touch with the Argentine’s representatives to test the waters.

Dybala ran down his contract with Juventus and is now free to choose his next destination on his own accord. Last season’s Serie A runners-up Inter have long been in a pole position to throw him a lifeline in Italy’s top division. However, Napoli are now ready to put up a fight.

Long-standing servants Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens have left the club. They could soon be joined by Matteo Politano through the exit gates. Three elite European sides are interested in taking the Italian winger away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

That threatens to leave head coach Luciano Spalletti strapped for reliable attacking options next term. No wonder De Laurentiis has given a shot at pipping Inter to Dybala’s signature.

Napoli have yet to present an official offer as their president wants to make sure to get the player’s consent first. Given De Laurentiis’ negotiating skills, it’s almost impossible to rule the Partenopei out of the race for La Joya

Dybala’s potential arrival would be a massive coup for Napoli. The 28-year-old experienced a couple of tumultuous years down the final stretch of his Juventus career. But he is still among the most intimidating attacking figures in Serie A.

The sole idea of approaching Dybala is already a statement of intent. Napoli have become an attractive landing spot for elite strikers over the years. And De Laurentiis now hopes to use that charm to lure the Argentina international to southern Italy.

If Inter were to pair Dybala up with Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, they would be well advised to step up their pursuit. Indeed, Napoli have everything it takes to make the former Palermo star Victor Osimhen’s partner up top.
