No Surprises for Juventus on Dybala Extension Despite Delays

Paulo Dybala was rumored to have reached agreement for an extension with Juventus a few weeks back. However, the official announcement has not arrived yet. Despite the recent turbulence and the poor season of the Bianconeri, there does not appear to be any issues on such front.

His agent Jorge Antun is taking care of the legal paperwork in Argentina, but the parties have come to terms. They will put pen-to-paper by the end of December, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Dybala will earn €8M per year plus €2M bonuses. If he met some objectives, the add-ons would become part of his salary starting from the third season. This aspect has created a technical hang-up that has slowed things down.

Dybala will be under contract until 2026 once he signs his new deal. Even though the negotiation has lagged at times, there has been little doubt about its outcome. La Joya has regained a central role at Juventus after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Director Fabio Paratici, who put him up for sale in the past, left the club. Instead, returning coach Massimiliano Allegri is a big supporter.

After an injury-riddled campaign, the Argentinian striker has had just a pair of hiccups, which cost him five matches. He has been productive thus far notwithstanding Juventus’ issues up front. He has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 14 appearances. With Federico Chiesa on the mend for multiple games, Dybala will be very prominent in the latest 4-2-3-1 scheme, the newspaper says.
