Although the Partenopei will look to get back to winning ways once the campaign resumes following the international break, Matteo Politano admitted to his side’s inefficiency.
Speaking to the club’s official channels (via TuttoNapoli) after the encounter, Politano pledged Napoli’s resurgence after the brief two-week interlude.
“We played a great match in the first half but didn’t take advantage of our superiority. We didn’t move the move quickly enought, and Lazio sat back. But we had to have more lucidity in the scoring phase because we had many chances.”
Lazio scored with their first shot on target in the game, and Politano admitted that it was a blow Napoli failed to recover from.
“Unfortunately, we conceded on their first chance and then missed too many passes in the second half. There is a lot of work to do, this is not the real Napoli. After the break, we will be able to recover all our energy and show our real value.”
Rudi Garcia’s Napoli travel to newly-promoted Genoa in a fortnight, as they will seek to bounce back from their first loss this season. Inter, Milan, Juventus, and Lecce now remain the only unbeaten sides this season after three games.
