Real Madrid Keep Close Tabs on Milan Playmaker

Milan saw their return to the Champions League after almost a decade dimmed by Liverpool’s resilience at Anfield as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat. However, the Rossoneri had their fair share of positives – including a certain Spaniard’s performances that allowed the away side to score their second goal and pose a temporary advantage.

Brahim Diaz’s performance has drawn attention from his former but technically current employers, Real Madrid. Milan extended the 22-year-old’s stay on a two-year loan deal but might see him return to Spain much sooner than expected, according to reports from Spanish outlet Don Balon (via Milanlive.it).

The report mentions of Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez’s continued monitoring of the playmaker. Carlo Ancelotti is also an admirer of the youngster but it might be two long years before he is seen in white of Madrid due to his existing contract.

His current contract with the Rossoneri expires in June 2023 and the Italian giants have a realistic chance of retaining him further by activating the buy option. However, Real Madrid have also inserted a buy-back clause.

His initial contract with Milan that began last season was extended due to Hakan Calhanoglu’s surprise transfer to cross-town rivals Inter for free.
