Brahim Diaz is primed to return to Real Madrid following a two-year loan spell at Milan. The decision appears to be final. Les Merengues are in talks to extend his contract. He could get a four-year deal until 2027 and stay put to replace Marcos Asensio, Marca informs (via Virgilio).
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri would have liked to keep the Spanish attacker, but they were never in control of his future. Even if they triggered their €22M option to buy, Los Galacticos could counter with a slightly superior sum. They would have to negotiate a new fee. The La Liga giants deemed a €20M offer insufficient.
Diaz will depart Milan after two seasons where he has raked up 124 appearances, scored 18 times, and provided 15 assists. He staved off the competition of newcomer Charles De Ketelaere and stayed the starting no.10 in the past campaign.
