Roma Make Progress on Matias Vina, Start Tracking Two Pricey Wingers

Roma are focusing their efforts on Matias Vina to fill the void opened by the injury of Leonardo Spinazzola. They have made an offer to Palmeiras, and the two sides are engaged in a negotiation. However, the Giallorossi need to improve their bid to seal the deal, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

Roma have proposed €10M plus €2.5M bonuses tied to his appearances and some team’s goals. The Brazilian club is looking for more money because they have to give 50 percent of the sum to Nacional de Montevideo. The Giallorossi are planning a raise to €13/15M in the next few days. Other outlets indicated that the Verdao wanted €18M to sell the defender. Vina started on the bench against Atletico Goianense, which signals that he could be on his way out.

After finding a new left-back, Roma might add a winger as Henrikh Mkhitaryan could play more centrally next season. According to the international press, they are interested in Porto’s Luis Diaz and Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram. The two attackers are in high demand and rather expensive.

Diaz shined in Copa America and has an €80M release clause, but he will move for less. His value is in the €30M range. His agent confirmed to AS that a few teams, including Roma, are after him, but nobody has made an offer yet. Instead, Borussia Moenchengladbach have put a €25M price tag on Thuram. Tottenham pursued him early in the summer, then the Giallorossi and Napoli joined the race. However, they will not reach such fee, L’Equipe informs.
