San Donato Mayor Snubs Milan Plans for New Stadium

Francesco Squeri, the Mayor of San Donato Milanese – the municipality where the Rossoneri want to erect a new stadium – has shunned talk of a simple yes or no when it comes to the issue. Milan are rumored to be scouting for an area in the San Donato neighborhood, whereas the Nerazzurri are interested in shifting to Rozzano, a few kilometers west.

However, as Squieri relayed, it is not going to be an easy task to secure such a large area, denying any such referendum at the moment.

“A program of this magnitude cannot pass through a simple question ‘Stadium yes or stage no’: it would be too reductive. There would also be the risk of a gut vote, and not of conscience,” he said in an interview to Libero (via MilanNews).

Milan reportedly have plans to set up a whole new complex for the club, which would include a new club headquarters, restaurants, bars, office areas, hotels etc. A total area of 40,000 square meters is being planned, but it will be no walk in the park to negotiate the deal to purchase the humungous zone.
