Sassuolo have landed their primary target for the attack Armand Laurienté, but they will not stop there because they are nearing an agreement with Spezia to onboard Janis Antiste. The Frenchman arrived in Italy Monday night after a long negotiation with Lorient.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Neroverdi bent the counterpart’s resistance by raising their previous offer that amounted to €10M, plus €1M add-ons and a 20 percent sell-on clause. The final disbursement will be slightly higher. The 23-year-old had long been earmarked as the heir to Giacomo Raspadori.
On top of Laurienté, Sassuolo plot to bring in Antiste from Spezia in short order as well. They have struck a verbal agreement with Spezia for €4.5M, Sky reports. They had helped the Aquilotti sign him from Toulouse last summer. He’s currently nursing a knee sprain, but he has recently received the green light to resume practicing.
The versatile forward bagged one goal, against Juventus, in 18 appearances with the Liguria team last season. He had hit the net 8 times and provided 4 assists in 39 matches with his previous club before arriving in Serie A.

It took them almost the entire window, but the Neroverdi are indeed getting their men up front. The newcomers will need some time to adjust to the league and gel with their teammates. But, if Hamed Traoré returns relatively soon from his foot fracture, their frontline could be as fearsome, deep, and well-assorted as last season despite the major sales. And they have re-invested a pretty big chunk of what they had cashed in, which is commendable.
