Sassuolo have confirmed the transfer of Genoa talent Luca Lipani, purchasing him outright from the Grifone following a breakthrough year which saw him finish runners-up at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup and eventually win the UEFA European U19 Championship with Italy. The right-footed holding midfielder signs a five-year deal at the Neroverdi.
Sassuolo pay about €10M for the 18-year-old, which includes €8M as a base fee plus €2-3M in bonuses and add-ons. Genoa will also receive a percentage of future resale from the Emilia-Romagna outfit’s end.
“He’s promising, with great prospects. Let’s hope he can be a future Maxime Lopez, he’s young, he still has to mature and make his own path. He will be part of the squad first team, but we can’t expect Lopez’s replacement now,” said Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali to Sky Italia (via SassuoloNews).

The midfielder, who cites Croatia veteran Milan Badelj as his inspiration, will look to emulate the defensive midfielder’s career exploits.
Lipani, who graduated from Genoa Primavera, joins the Neroverdi as the club’s youngest acquisition this summer window, following the arrivals of 19-year-old duo Cristian Volpato and Filippo Missori.
