Sassuolo Rejects Opening Offers for Coveted Forward

Despite a subpar season, the price tag of Jeremie Boga has not freefallen. He is drawing interest from Atalanta and Shakhtar Donetsk, which are coached by his former boss Roberto De Zerbi. But Sassuolo have turned down every proposal for the forward so far.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, La Dea offered €20M plus €2M add-ons for Ivorian winger. They were rebuffed and might move onto other targets at this point. Sassuolo want at least €25M to part ways with the forward, the site suggests.

The 24-year-old is having an underwhelming campaign, also due to multiple injuries. He is still scoreless after 13 appearances, while he has provided 3 assists. Gaffer Alessio Dionisi slammed him after the recent loss to Bologna: “I tried to start him today to see if he could do better than his recent appearances. Mentally, he does not even know where he is, and that is affecting his performances. It is a pity because he is a great guy and player and could really make the difference.”

Sassuolo director Giovanni Rossi confirmed their stance on Boga and their other coveted forwards: “Historically, we have never been very active in January. Our plans are pretty clear. We will try to keep everybody and get better, but it is not easy.”

It is uncertain whether Atalanta will opt to raise their previous bid. Boga is part of the provisional Ivory Coast squad list for the upcoming African Cup of Nations. Should he make the cut, that could further discourage the Bergamaschi, at least for January.
