Skriniar Mum on Future, Inter Confident on Extension

Milan Skriniar was buttoned up on his personal matters in the presser ahead of the Champions League fixture against Viktoria Plzen, but Inter believe they will be able to keep him in town for years to come. His contract expires in 2023. After missing out on him during the summer, PSG remain hot on his trail for a potential Bosman addition, SportMediaset reports.

The defender sidestepped the question Tuesday.

“I’ve never spoken about it and I prefer to keep it that way. We’re here to play this match and I don’t want to talk about my future or my contract. I don’t think this is the right place and time. When there’ll be updates, you’ll know them from me and nobody else.”

According to the publication, Inter are ready to make Skriniar the highest-paid player on the roster bar Romelu Lukaku, who’s on loan from Chelsea. They are willing to increase his wages to €7M annually. While the center-back never pushed to leave, he would have reportedly accepted the move to France if the clubs came to terms.

The Nerazzurri considered selling the Slovak for a proper fee early on. However, PSG didn’t meet their requests at the time. The Serie A club took him off the market in August, as they wouldn’t have had time to replace him, despite further attempts by the Ligue 1 powerhouse.

Our Take on Skriniar and Inter

That’s the problem with dangling players, as they are subjects to the courtship of wealthy sides. La Beneamata went one-for-two in this kind of situation last season. They re-upped with Marcelo Brozovic when it was uncomfortably late and lost Ivan Perisic to Tottenham. They have two-or-three months to get it done before things become nerve-wracking.
