Skriniar Weighs In on Issues Affecting Inter So Far

Milan Skriniar dished on the problems that have hindered Inter at the start of the season and the disappointment for not winning the title in the past one but didn’t address his future in an interview with DAZN.

“The team and the coach aren’t pinning the blame just on the defenders. Everybody participates in the passive phase, and the same goes for the attacking one. We discussed it, and we know we have to do better in the back.”

“Not winning the Scudetto left a bitter taste in our mouths, but we did take home two cups. We hoped the failure would give us extra motivation. We received criticism because they said we had a strong squad and had to prevail, but we don’t listen to it because it would be a waste of energy. Milan won a Derby that we dominated for 70 minutes. The loss against Sassuolo was criticial too. The Rossoneri deserve credit because they ran through very difficult tilts. It wasn’t just our demerit.”

The Slovak recalled the difficult transition under Antonio Conte

“The three-man defense was something new for me. I struggled at first. I worked hard but had some limitations. He and the staff helped me improve. Now I am used to both styles and it’s a positive thing.”

Skriniar described his current coach and his relationship with the Inter fans.

Simone Inzaghi is almost ‘one of us,’ he jokes around but, when he has to say something heavy, he does it. He’s balanced. I’ve always tried to give my best for this club and fight on every ball and the supporters love me for that. I have a nice rapport with them and that’s wonderful.”
