Totti: “Berlusconi Did Everything to Bring Me to Milan”

Roma legend Francesco Totti has revealed how former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi did everything to bring him to San Siro. Heaping praise on the now departed political icon and calcio patron, Totti exalted the former Italy prime minister as the ‘number one’.

Speaking to Sky Sport (via MilanNews), Totti paid his condolences and gave some background his relationship with Berlusconi.

“Today we lose a great piece of Italian and world history. We are talking about a warm, funny character. He had all the weapons to be number one and he had his convictions. He did everything to bring me to Milan but after my journey at Roma it was difficult for him to detach me from my team. I will thank him for life, he will always remain number one for me. He won everything that could be won.”

Totti spent his entire playing career at the Giallorossi, denying big money moves to clubs such as Milan, Manchester United and Real Madrid. He ultimately culminated his career with 307 goals in 786 appearances for Roma – from 1992 to 2017. Similarly, Berlusconi spent 31 years at the helm of presidency at Milan.
