Tuchel Opens Chelsea First Team Door for Starlet Casadei

After an initial failed bid, Chelsea continued to pursue Cesare Casadei with the backing of their coach Thomas Tuchel. The gaffer has given an interview on club’s official website about the midfielder’s transfer. The class of 2003 was signed from Inter only a few days ago. The manager does not rule him out from appearing in the first team soon enough (via Calciomercato).

“First of all we have to give him time and not burden him with too many expectations, because that wouldn’t do him any favor.”

Tuchel was full of praise for Casadei and his skill-set.

“He is a box-to-box midfielder, very strong mentally, very physical for his age, but at the moment it is important for him to learn the language and what Chelsea are and understand the culture and principles to live by and play for in this team. Then we will try to take him to train with the first team and open the doors for him. In the end, he has to prove and overcome himself.”

The Italy U19 international moved to Stamford Bridge on a six-year contract – in a deal amounting to €20M including add-ons and bonuses. He is yet to make his first appearance in one of the top five European leagues.
