Uruguay Stopper Olivera Nears Napoli Move

Getafe center-back Mathias Olivera is heading towards a move to the south of Italy. The 24-year-old Uruguayan defender was brought in from his country’s second-tier team Atenas for €850,000, and has since established himself as a starter in the capital club.

Despite having a transfermarkt value of €15m, he is expected to sign for Napoli for around €2m lesser (€11m in transfer fee + €2m bonus, payable in three installments). A five year contract beginning in 2022/23 and ending in the summer of 2027 is in the books.

The youngster’s agent Pablo Boselli has reportedly met with the Partenopei management for finalizing the deal, which will be signed soon.

Olivera has also been tracked frequently by Juventus and several Spanish clubs, but Napoli look like they have won the race for the stopper, who has made 77 appearances for Getafe since arriving from Uruguay.

He made his debut for the national side in January 2022.
