Wolfsburg Reach Verbal Agreement with Sassuolo for Rogerio

Having recently rejected Russian outfit Spartak Moscow’s bid for left-back Rogerio due to ethical reasons, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has reportedly accepted Wolfsburg’s bid for the Brazilian. 25-year-old Rogerio was the subject of interest from top clubs such as Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, and even Milan, and just his affirmation remains if he wishes to continue his career in the Bundesliga.

A verbal agreement has been struck between the two clubs over the deal for Rogerio, as confirmed by Carnevali himself. The player is expected to give a positive response in the meanwhile.

Rogerio was scouted by Milan as a direct replacement for Fode Ballo-Touré as Theo Hernandez’s deputy on the left flank; however, there were no negotiations held by the Rossoneri. The Brazilian, who also holds an Italian passport, possesses a market value worth €15-20M for Sassuolo.

He is the Brazilian U25 player with the most appearances in Serie A and the third overall in the league behind Manuel Locatelli and Alessandro Bastoni. He impressed more than most in 2022/23, ending the season with the second-highest average interceptions per game (5.3) behind Fabiano Parisi and offensive duels won (59%) behind Alex Sandro.

Only Theo Hernandez turned faster than Rogerio in Serie A, with the Juventus academy graduate peaking at 34.6 km/h compared to Theo’s 35.7 km/h.
