Yann Sommer Puts Pen to Paper on Contract with Inter

Inter have completed the acquisition of Yann Sommer. The goalkeeper arrived in Italy Sunday and completed the medicals and inked a three-year contract Monday. He was the first to officialize the transfer by bidding farewell to his former fans on Instagram.

Per Goal, the Nerazzurri shelled out the amount of his release clause, €6M, to get him from Bayern Munich. They reached an agreement to dilute the sum in multi-year installments. They zeroed in on him after the departure of André Onana.

Sommer was a direct request of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. They were able to get him after long negotiations even though the Bavarians have yet to find his replacement.

The Swiss international had joined them last January for €9M to replace the injured Manuel Neuer, who’s still on the mend. He spent most of his career at Borussia Moenchengladbach after getting his start in his home country. He has 83 appearances with his national team to his name.

While Inter snapped up Sommer, they’ll miss out on their other top target in the same role, Anatoliy Trubin. He’ll move to Benfica in a €10M move plus 40 percent of a future sale, Fabrizio Romano informs. They are now looking for a deputy. The leading candidate is Emil Audero. They could sign him from Sampdoria through a swap of loans, with Filip Stankovic heading to Genoa, SportMediaset relays.
