Agent Antonelli: “Milan and Juve Would Have Gladly Taken Udogie”

Hellas Verona youth product Destiny Udogie has been in the limelight as one of the most interesting youth talents from Italy. Stefano Antonelli, the Udinese left-back’s agent, has revealed that a couple of Serie A top dogs were on the hunt for Udogie’s signature before he eventually chose to move to Tottenham.

Udogie is currently on loan at the Friulani from Tottenham Hotspur, but he could have very well been playing at Milan or Juventus, according to Antonelli (via MilanNews).

“Tottenham took him off the market by buying him but previously Udinese was also good at overcoming the competition when Verona needed to sell him. Everyone would have gladly taken him, even Milan and Juventus, but at that moment it was the Friulians who believed in it more than the others, paying him 2.8 million euros.”

He then praised Spurs for being an organized club.

Obviously we often talk about Tottenham but he keeps telling me that he is very focused on Udinese. He speaks a lot about Spurs, also because it is such an organized club that it has a person who deals with Udogie every day.”

Udogie has been backed to feature for the Azzurri, but Antonelli believes Roberto Mancini knows best.

The Italian national team? He will get there, but Mancini will decide how and when.”

The 19-year-old is currently sidelined with a muscle injury, feeling discomfort in his flexor a few hours before the kick-off against Lecce.
