Inter Striker Addresses Juventus Fracas and New Deal

Edin Dzeko commented on his performances, Inter’s season, and the recent brawl at the end of the Coppa Italia fixture with Juventus and touched on his future in an interview with Bosnian outlet TV N1 Sarajevo (via Calciomercato).

“I already won a trophy this campaign, but the goal is always to lift as many as possible. I’ve taken home three since joining, and I’m aware of how important it is for a club like this to constantly compete for the Scudetto. The result of the clash with the Bianconeri hangs in the balance. We’ll have to fare even better at home in order to reach the final and prevail.”

Dzeko addressed the skirmish in Turin and his gesture toward the supporter as he insistently pointed at the team’s symbol while celebrating the draw.

“Some things that have no place on a football pitch happened during that game, as reported. I felt that the least I could do was to gift them my jersey for their support. I wanted to thank them. We have had a good relationship since day one, and I’m grateful to them.”

Dzeko was quizzed about his renewal, as he’s reportedly close to striking an agreement, but Inter might wait to see whether they qualify for the Champions League first.

“You’ll know everything soon. There are people that handle that matter. I focus exclusively on playing.”

The Bosnian is expected to start over Romelu Lukaku in the first leg of the Champions League encounter against Benfica Tuesday Night.
