Inter Disinterested in Building New Stadium with Milan

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale invited Inter to join them in the project to build a new stadium in San Donato Milanese. The two governors conversed twice in the last two months. However, the Nerazzurri haven’t entertained such a possibility at this stage, Ansa informs (via Goal).

The Rossoneri are going full-steam ahead in that area. Instead, their crosstown rivals are working on Rozzano, but their plans aren’t as advanced.

The Milan head reached out to Inter president Steven Zhang in mid-January. The representatives of the two clubs met up at the beginning of February at the Nerazzurri’s HQ. The Chinese businessman participated remotely. He has doubts about the zone chosen by the Rossoneri and would rather have his team proceed on its own.

The two sides were recently presented with a new project to renovate San Siro and received a plea from Mayor Giuseppe Sala. Milan president Paolo Scaroni addressed it to DAZN before the Monza game (via Mediaset).

“We bought the land in San Donato and are forging ahead. The talks among governors continue, but there’s nothing particular. I’d like the idea of modernizing the current stadium in principle. However, I don’t see how you can do it when it hosts 70k people weekly. We’d consider it only if there was a chance to keep using it during the construction works since there are no alternatives with a similar capacity. I’ve always thought that was almost impossible.”
