Inter will try to add a young center-forward in the summer, and it may not be Gianluca Scamacca after all, even though they have been chasing him for a few months. Sassuolo have set a high evaluation for their starlet. The Nerazzurri will try to reach in through partial swaps, but the negotiation will be challenging.
According to Corriere dello Sport, they have begun looking for further options in case they could not land their top target. Benfica’s Darwin Nunez is a pipe dream as he will transfer to a top side for a giant fee. Instead, Reims’ Hugo Ekitike could be a more attainable mark. He has shown well in his first season as a regular in France. He has bagged 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
The management is in touch with the entourage of the 19-year-old. He would not come cheap either because he is drawing plenty of suitors. Inter do not intend to give Sassuolo the €40M they ask for Scamacca. Andrea Pinamonti and Cesare Casadei could sweeten the pot. However, their evaluations would have to be substantial to make it happen. Duvan Zapata remains on the Nerazzurri’s radar as a fallback plan despite his age.
Scamacca addressed the Inter buzz after snapping out of a scoring slump in the Udinese game: “We will take stock of the entire campaign after the final game. I do not read the newspaper or listen to the transfer market rumors. Journalists write something different every day.”
