Inter Looking For Wingback to Be Ready in Case of Departures

Coach Simone Inzaghi showed appreciation for Nahitan Nandez in an interview, but Inter are more likely to add a wingback on the other flank in January. Aleksander Kolarov could depart, with Federico Dimarco taking his spot as Alessandro Bastoni’s backup. That would leave an opening behind Ivan Perisic out wide.

The Nerazzurri do not really have a budget for the next window. They will at most bring in somebody on loan. They were previously rumored to be chasing after Lucas Digne, alongside Napoli and Juventus. He has fallen out of favor at Everton and already played in Serie A.

Another possible option is Mohamed Fares, who is familiar with Inzaghi’s schemes. He is currently on loan at Genoa, but he has not played in a while due to a calf injury. Lazio could be open to sending the wingback to Inter with the same formula and an option to buy, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. An alternative to eventually replace Kolarov is to bring back Zinho Vanheusden from the Grifone and maintain the current configuration.

Inzaghi touched on the transfer market: “Every team is looking to improve. My priority is to keep all the elements of the squad. Then we will see whether we could do something in the midfield and on the flanks. Maybe somebody is unhappy with their role or minutes. Nandez is an interesting player, he is versatile and could suit us. The management is always very alert. If there was the right opportunity, it would be right to seize it.”
