Inter to Make Far-Fetched Effort to Beat Roma for Frattesi

Roma are approaching the Davide Frattesi saga with steadfast accuracy, as they aim accelerate talks with Sassuolo and claim his signature once the January winter transfer window opens. The Giallorossi will however also face competition from Inter for the 23-year-old midfielder, as per latest reports from Italy (via SassuoloNews).

The Neroverdi has been on the Giallorossi radar for quite a while now, whereas the Nerazzurri also have maintained interest in him since last summer. Both teams proved unsuccessful in striking a deal with Sassuolo previously, as they went separate ways and signed Nemanja Matic and Kristjan Asllani respectively.

Regardless of Inter’s eagerness, Frattesi wants Roma and Roma only – his boyhood club – pitching the capital club in pole position to win his signature. He has already voiced his intrigue of returning back to the Stadio Olimpico but the move, according to Il Messaggero (via SassuoloNews), cannot take place in January due to financial complications.

Nevertheless, Inter cannot be ruled out just yet. The Neroverdi take on the Nerazzurri in a friendly match tomorrow, and reportedly club chief Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio will take the opportunity to engage Giovanni Carnevali and the Sassuolo management to gain headway in the transfer race.

However, much to the Lombardy outfit’s dismay, Roma have already scheduled advanced negotiations with Sassuolo this week for closing the deal, perhaps for a summer transfer at the end of the season.
