Inter Willing to Explore Latest Proposal About Stadium

Inter appear more interested than Milan in a new project to renovate San Siro. Owner Steven Zhang has received a phone call from Mayor Giuseppe Sala. The club president didn’t outright discard such a possibility, Libero’s Fabrizio Biasin reported.

The two sides were informed of the WeBuild plan during a meeting last week. It’ll take months for it to fully come together, though, Calcio e Finanza informs.

Inter and Milan are waiting to learn more about how San Siro would function during the construction works. They don’t want to play elsewhere. A vastly reduced capacity for a long period of time would also be a problem. Moreover, they wish to buy the stadium in the process.

The Nerazzurri want a profound refurbishment. The idea had been previously rejected because the previous projects mandated that the two outfits would temporarily abandon the area. Zhang and co. will keep working on their fallback in Rozzano.

Milan president Paolo Scaroni voiced major skepticism (via Rai News).

“WeBuild wrote a letter filled with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ that need to be better analyzed. We’d consider the hypothesis only if somebody could formally guarantee us that we could keep playing there.”

Our Take on Inter, Milan, and San Siro

It sounds like just a way for the City to buy time. It’ll take months for the project to simply take shape in its entirety. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri might not have the means to build their own stadium solo.
