Juventus Exec Arrivabene Talks Ronaldo, Dybala and Allegri

On top of dishing on Matthijs De Ligt, Juventus chief executive officer Maurizio Arrivabene discussed multiple transfer market topics related to the Bianconeri toTuttosport. He addressed the return of Paul Pogba.

“The idea came out of the blue, almost as a provocation, but then we worked on it. We assessed its numbers and sustainability. They have to make sense in front of the board. Some players are important both technically and commercially. My dream would be to have an Italian champion that is recognized abroad like Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero or Gianluigi Buffon.”

Arrivabene commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s spell at Juventus.

“We did not fully exploit it because of COVID, and it is a pity because the potential was much bigger. In any case, the club is above any player considering its 125-year history. It has its rules that must be followed by everyone, myself included.”

The CEO weighed in on Paulo Dybala.

“We had come to terms, then we hit pause after the capital increase and decided to revisit the agreement. We went in a different direction. However, our relationship was not splintered and we never waged war against him. I hope he finds a team and the satisfactions he deserves.”

Arrivabene underlined the role of Massimiliano Allegri within Juventus.

“We are involving him in every choice. He is paying great attention to our strategy, and we are in lockstep. Keeping the finances in check was not easy for anybody at first. He had to manage a squad that he did contribute to building. That is starting to change now. We have a very tight group, and we are working under the radar on the transfer market. Sometimes I see bizarre names I never even heard of attached to us.”
