Juventus Have Not Abandoned Pursuit of Udinese Linchpin

While Juventus have prioritized different signings, Nahuel Molina remains their favorite target for the right-back position. Their main foes for him, Atletico Madrid, appear to have relented.

As per La Repubblica, the negotiation with Udinese was at a good point before other deals took center stage. The Old Lady had not matched the €30M request, though. However, the counterparty seems willing to accept some youngsters in return. Their opening bid amounted to €16M.

Juventus consider Molina an ideal heir for Juan Cuadrado. The 34-year-old Colombian has a year on his contract. He is on shaky ground after turning down an extension. Still, they could pursue the dynamic fullback anyway. Their veteran could permanently move to the midfield or attack, or Danilo could switch positions.

According to AS, Atletico Madrid gave up the chase because of the price tag. Afterward, they angered Udinese by activating a clause to bring back Nehuen Perez. Director Pierpaolo Marino talked about the 24-year-old to the club’s TV (via Ansa).

“We sell our players only for proper valuations, and we do not necessarily have to. It is our strength. Nobody has ever shown signs of malcontent. He has received many requests but the transfer market has been immobile so far.”

Our Take on Juventus Eyeing Molina

The Old Lady would be wise to invest in a dynamic young player in such role. Cuadrado is occasionally brilliant, but he has become inconsistent and is often poor in the back. The Argentine is a pure wingback, but the Friuliani are very defensive-minded, and so his work rate and ability should not be an issue. Danilo is solid and ever-reliable, but he should play elsewhere to have more offensive punch. He has generally been quite good as a central midfielder.
