Sarri Fully Anticipates Immobile Staying Put in January

Ciro Immobile came off the bench late against Fiorentina but took center stage following a rough stretch with a clutch PK. Despite the Saudi rumors, Maurizio Sarri believes nothing will happen in the next transfer window regarding his star striker, as he told DAZN (via EuroSport).

“He had a few ailments in the past few months and paid the price for them. I hope he’ll be able to practice with consistency. That’s the only way for him to return to top levels. I think we can take it for granted that he’ll stay in January. There could be temporary dejection, but I consider it a non-existent problem.”

Immobile commented on his recent reduced role (via Corriere dello Sport).

“I am serene on the bench, and I live this situation well. I didn’t get off on the right foot this season. Everybody has struggled. I picked up the pieces and perceive the trust of the club, my teammates, and the fans. It’s not a great moment for me. They talk about negative aspects if you don’t score. It happens, as it’s part of football. Then, there are moments like this that allow you to win and celebrate with all your people.”

“My pulse was racing before the PK. There was a lot of pressure, and the game was about to end. I’m happy for the squad. This was a big step forward.”
