Gianluca Scamacca bagged a brace versus Bologna, improving to 16 goals in his first Serie A season. The 23-year-old has drawn the interest primarily of Inter and Milan, on top of a few foreign clubs. Only three younger players have been more productive than him in the top five European leagues in 2021-2022.
Dusan Vlahovic, who is 22 and has hit the net 23 times, is the only Serie A representative in such chart, Sky indicates. The others are Real Madrid’s Vinicius (21), who has bagged 17 goals so far, and Erling Haaland, who has found the target 22 times. Although, the Borussia Dortmund ace did it in just 24 appearances as he missed time with various injuries.
Scamacca addressed his future after the Bologna game: “My priority is to establish myself in Italy. However, the transfer market is unpredictable. We will make the best decision when the time comes. Serie A is at an elite level. Then, it is up to others to make their evaluations. We will see what happens.”
“Alessio Dionisi helped me grow a lot. I did not have much experience, and I was focusing on putting up numbers, but the modern striker has to combine with his teammates too. I have realized that this season, plus the notion that scoring should be an extra personal satisfaction. There are many areas where I can improve. Sometimes I give the ball away too easily, and I have to spend more time in the box. I am working on those aspects.”
