Chelsea Lead Race for Former Inter and Juventus Target

Josko Gvardiol is living up to the hype during the World Cup, and his strong showings are attracting more teams and further driving up his price tag. Chelsea, which already tried to snare him in the summer, have gained separations from the other suitors, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The Blues are in advanced talks with his agent and will attempt to seal the deal right after the end of the competition. Graham Potter considers him a perfect fit for his defense. He’s by far his preferred option among the possible targets.

The London outfit offered up to €80M to sign Gvardiol from RB Leipzig a few months ago, but they were rebuffed. They are ready to put a similar bid on the table. They wish to onboard right away. However, if the resistance by his club was too fierce, they could secure him early and wait until the summer to onboard him. They are set to do that with Christopher Nkunku.

Inter eyed the prodigy in the summer, and Juventus have him on their radar as they are searching for a lefty center-back. But Serie A sides can’t reach those wealthy sums. Instead, the Blues face competition from PSG and Tottenham. The French powerhouse will likely invest lavishly in a defender if they miss out on Milan Skriniar again.

Our Take on Gvardiol

He’s a sure-fire prospect with incredible upside. Even though he’s been linked to Italian sides, it has always been pretty clear that he’ll move elsewhere since it’s super expensive to buy players from RB Leipzig. The Pensioners seem to have established a nice rapport with the German side, but PSG will eventually have to splurge on somebody in the back.
