Inter CEO Marotta Muses On Lukaku, Lautaro and Skriniar

Inter are inching closer to bringing back Romelu Lukaku, but Giuseppe Marotta stated it will not happen today. The executive discussed several hot-button topics talking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb)

“I can say that we will not announce his return today. We have the duty to build a team paying attention to the sustainability of the club. Therefore, inquiries and negotiations intertwine. We must be ambitious and evaluate every possibility, without worrying about whether it will indeed materialize or not. The deal is possible but there are some difficulties and we will see how it goes.”

Marotta suggested that Lautaro Martinez would not leave Inter this summer.

“The business plan we are following indicates that we have to turn in a profit this summer. However, we wish to put together a strong and competitive squad. We consider him and indispensable cog for our goals.”

Instead, the executive hinted that Milan Skriniar could be sold.

“In my mind, it is tougher to replace a striker than a defender in this window. We are mulling over in which area we will have to intervene. We are weighing worthy alternatives in case somebody left. Many top teams could use Bremer, and we are tracking him very attentively.”

Marotta was asked whether Inter will finalize the acquisitions of Lukaku and Paulo Dybala next week.

“It is tough to give a precise answer. We are after them but we also have to consider the financial aspects. We started to pursue them head-first and it would be good if we pulled it off, otherwise we would move onto different targets. The group matters more than single players, and it is already strong in my mind. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will join in the next few days. André Onana already signed his contract.”
